It's built for in-person groups of 7 or more.

No — the app is the narrator. It deals roles, walks the Mafia, Doctor, and Sheriff through their night turns in order, announces the morning results, and manages the day-phase vote, so everyone at the table gets to play.

Every game includes Mafia, a Doctor, a Sheriff, and Civilians. Roles are assigned secretly and at random when the game begins, and the app automatically skips any role that is absent or already eliminated.
